HAMILTON REDEMPTION FOR RAE

Hamilton’s Western Speedway has offered some redemption for Victorian F500 speedster Jordy Rae, just seven days after heartbreak at Laang Speedway.
Laang hosted round four of the TJ Chassis Victorian F500 Stampede Series, and after two heat wins, the V9 pilot started the A Main from pole position. Rae had his TJ Chassis circulating well, holding off eventual winner Terry Rankin, until he noticed the water temperature rising under caution. TO minimise damage to the engine, Rae pulled infield and out of the final.
The subsequent checks of the car identified that the Yamaha R6 engine had blown a head gasket. Engine Builder Stephen Bell of Jettco Developments was handed the task of turning the engine around for the following Saturday night in Hamilton. The following Friday night the engine was back and bolted into the Rae Motorsports number nine.
The Bannockburn based squad headed to Hamilton optimistic of a good result in round five of the TJ Chassis Stampede Series, after running well there in the past.
The opening heat and Rae was drawn to start on the outside of the front row. Getting away to a fast start was critical on the hooked up track, and he made every post a winner, using the clean air to motor to the win.
The track was beginning to slicken off for heat two and Rae was starting from position seven. After an average start, he moved the V9 up the track and progressed up to second place. A yellow with three laps remaining provided an opportunity to pounce for the lead on the restart. Grabbing the lead and the win, led to another perfect points haul leading into the A Main.
Starting the A Main from pole position on a fast track, Rae got the jump and went on to lead from start to finish. Making the result even more special was sharing the podium with his brother Brock, who finished third and continues to put together an outstanding rookie season.
Rae was happy to strike back after the frustration of the week before.
‘The car was really good on both weekends, just a shame about Laang. At Hamilton the car worked really well in the clean air, so I had to maintain my lead and not make any mistakes. Massive thanks to my family and sponsors, especially Jettco Developments for getting me back on track quickly.’
Now eyeing off the Victorian Title back at Laang this coming weekend, Rae was enthusiastic and keen to get going.
‘There’s a talented field nominated for the Vic Title at Laang, and with the 3 heat format I really need to finish my heats and keep moving forward. Hopefully we can start somewhere near the pointy end of the A, we’ve had a fast car at Laang this season, so I can’t wait to jump in!’
Rae Motorsport will be on trackfrom 5pm this Saturday night at the Victorian Formula 500 title at Laang Speedway.
