Solid Field for West Coast Series Opener!

A good field of seventeen Formula 500’s have nominated for this weekend’s opening round of the 2014/15 West Coast Series to be held at Margaret River Speedway.

Saturday night will see all the stars and their cars roll into the pits, including ten drivers who are contracted to do the whole series, at the picturesque south west venue and it is anyone’s guess who will come out the winner by races end.

Going in as pre-racefavourite to claim the feature would be none other than Andrew Priolo. Priolo claimed the Perth Motorplex feature win on Tuesday night and would love to claim another feature win to round out the week.

Of course he will face some tough competition from a whole host of other competitors including Troy Johnson who will be out for revenge after his last outing ended on a sour note, going upside down after being incredibly competitive throughout the night. Mark House was also very fast but he too headed infield at the same time as Johnson’s race ended, meaning that he will be looking to make amends this weekend.

Thomas Davies and Jeremy Saffin are two drivers who have proved themselves to be very fast and competitive over the past few seasons and should everything go their way on Saturday night they are a real chance to take home the win.

Ash Kent is one driver who does incredible amounts of travelling just to be at each meeting and with such a huge drive this weekend a good finish would be a just reward for the likeable charger.

Aaron Fullgrabe has a reputation as a hard charger and if he can start towards the front of the field come feature race time then he will be a real threat to contend with.

The ladies are once again well represented, with TeganBroadwood and Deb Patmore both in the field. Both are still relatively new to the division but the way they approach their racing professionally and the fact that they develop each time they hit the track means it won’t be long before they are both at the front of the field.

AdrianHaywood has also nominated for the event but is in a race against time to make the show after struggling with mechanical woes over the past few nights and then finding metal pieces in his sump! Fingers crossed the popular pilot of the well-presented #55 can make the trip!

Of course, there is a whole host of other names ready to race this weekend, with drivers the ilk of Matt Higgs, Brent Lockwood, the fast TrystanCaley, impressive rookie Graham Mitchell, the well-presented Travis Bell, Wingless Sprint convert Cameron McKenzie and perennial competitor Bill Richards all throwing their hats into the ring.

Make sure you are at Margaret River Speedway this weekend to see the pocket rockets fight for first place honours in the opening round of the West Coast Series!
