Formula 500's SA 2014 King of the Bridge



The 7th Annual - 2014 King of the Bridge will be the biggest event in the race's history on Saturday night when 32 flying formula 500's take to Murray Bridge Speedway to see who will be crowned King.

Weekend festivities kick off Friday night as many teams head to Tolmer Speedway, Bordertown for the 2014 Battle of the Border and a state verses state match up between South Australia and Victoria to see who will claim the border with sixteen cars on hand.

Then the action heads to the track the Formula 500's call "Little Eldora" at Murray Machining and Sheds, Murray Bridge Speedway for the 7th annual King of the Bridge.

The day kicks off just before 3:30 when the gates open for the annual pit party where public are invited to come along and meet the drivers and pick up the official event poster thanks to KJR Designs and individual driver posters, while obtaining their favourite drivers autographs.

Also joining in the nights activities, is the race's 2007 inaugural winner, "The Hurricane" Gavin Hutton, who will also be joining in on the pit party as well as special functions through the night as the events first official Grand Marshall.

Heats are sure to be hotly contested as drivers try to obtain a spot in the Scotcher Race Fuels and Oils top 6 dash to see who will be the Scotcher Pole award winner and the winner of the first silverware of the night for their efforts.

The top sixteen drivers will transfer into the A main directly, ensuring the B main will be a star studded line up also, with only four drivers transferring into the 25 lap A main.

Western Australian native, Andrew Priolo will be having his first look at "the Bridge" and has been in stunning form taking out the feature last week on home soil, while 2012 King, Dylan Willsher will be looking to take back the crown he lost last year in dramatic fashion and is fresh from a feature win last weekend at Warrnambool.

Lisa Walker hopes to keep the crown on home soil while becoming the first "Female King" or Queen of the Bridge and has two feature wins already this season, While defending King of the Bridge Champion Scott Dungey will hope to be the events first multiple champion. Whyalla speedster, Angelo Karoussis come into the event with less attention but is in red hot form after claiming a new track record at Speedway City recently and should have claimed the feature that night before running machanical issues forced him infield while leading the feature.

A host of drivers from South Australia and Victoria are also in with a real chance but will have to be on their game to be crowned King! One thing is for sure, the 2014 King of the Bridge, will be a cracker!
