A sensational field of thirty flying Formula 500’s will converge on the Maryborough Speedway this weekend for the two night “Pace Chassis Australia / Paul’s Cylinder Heads” Queensland Nationals.
Drivers from as far away as the Central Coast of New South Wales and Cairns in Far North Queensland have entered, and leading the charge is the current Queensland and Victorian Champion Dale Shilleto. Shilleto who lives in Maryborough is hoping for a big finish to the season in front of his home crowd.
“There wouldn’t be anything better then finishing the season with a big win infront of all my friends and family”, Shilleto said.
“We’ve had a great season and this would just add the icing to the cake” Shilleto said.
Also among the field is the current is the 17 year old rookie sensation Charlie Brown who is fresh from his New South Wales Championship win only a few weeks ago. Brown has burst onto the Formula 500 scene, and at the last outing at the Maryborough Speedway, Brown was super quick and will go into this weekend as a red hot favourite.
The father and son team of Mick and Nathan Pronger will also be ones to watch this weekend. Mick record speaks for itself, but Nathan form of late which has seen him capture the win in the 2010 Queensland Stampede Series, will have the field worried. Nathan finishing runner up to Ben McLeod at last seasons Queensland Nationals is another big chance to pocket the $2000 first prize this weekend.
Add to this list the likes of former Australian number two Garry Hart, last start winner Shaun Eyres, last Maryborough feature race winner Brenton Finney, North Queensland flyers Glen Underwood, Brad Metcalfe and Allan & Kaydon Iverson, as well as Paul Swindells, Eddie Schwehla, Barry Gibbes, Ken Newton and lady racer Kristin Brown, this is going to be a super weekend of Formula 500 racing.
