Friday, 15 January 2010 WA F500 Inc
Northam Motorsport Park will be the place to be this Saturday night when Formula 500’s Inc rolls into town for the 2010 WA Formula 500 Title. Defending champion Steven Ellement will be looking to go back to back and is in red hot form going into the title. Ellement has dominated F500’s here in WA this season making him the obvious favourite but he will have to be on his toes with newly crowned Oval Express champion and former Australian champion Ben McLeod heading over from Victoria to try and take the trophy home. Another Victorian Leigh Van Ginneken has made the trip also fresh from the Oval Express Series and is capable of coming away with the $1000 winner’s cheque and the coveted WA1 on the car. WA driver Matt Brown a former Australian and multiple WA State Formula 500 champion has been racing on the east coast this season but has come back to his home state and will be trying to win his 4th. Brown was able to finish a credible 3rd in the Oval Express this season and definitely can win at the superfast high banked speedway.
Local competitors will figure prominently in the big race with a few drivers back after east coast commitments. Steven Gay, Jason Priolo, David Sinagra and Brad Warwick all competed in the Oval Express with mixed success and will be coming back with one thing in mind. Other local drivers capable of winning are abundant with the likes of Daniel and Trevor Harding, Matt Watkins, Sam Borlini, Chris Dymock, Phil Crofts, Mark House and any of another half dozen drivers on the pace and hungry to add to their trophy shelf.
So race fans we have 33 drivers locked and loaded, $1000 to the winner out of a $6000 prize pool and one heck of a race meeting ahead for Formula 500’s WA Inc. Format for the night will be 3 heats for each driver with the top twenty going straight into the final and the top 4 drivers from the B-main transferring into the feature. Presentation will be held infield directly after the final is completed. Best of luck to all drivers and let’s show them how it’s done in WA
